Before I participated in the Expandability program, I was employed by a retail chain in a job I didn’t like. I felt like I would be stuck in retail forever because I lacked interviewing skills and thought my past work skills were not transferable to anything else. My coach helped me to interview more confidently and naturally; she also aided me in creating a strong resume which highlighted my transferable skills. Without Expandability, I believe that it would have been very difficult for me to interview for the job I now have or to get an offer because I would not have been well prepared. The interview process was very formal: 2 phone interviews with H.R., 2 in-person interviews with management plus aptitude tests. Several of the management’s questions were the very ones my coach and I had practiced!
Expandability was a good fit for me because it is one on one, at the client’s pace. I can easily get overwhelmed with too much information and then become flustered. However, since everything was geared to my pace, I was able to process better and take everything in, one step at a time.
I would recommend the program to others because I am an example of what can happen when you work to better yourself for the type of job you want. It also helped me to be patient with myself. In fact, I think Expandability actually changed my life by getting me out of retail into a job I enjoy and where there is opportunity for growth.
And the bottom line: when I worked in retail, I made $600/month, working 2 part-time jobs. At my current job, I earn close to $3000/month and with my first paycheck, I bought a new Samsung phone. Now, I’m saving up to buy a newer car.
My name is Zachary and that’s my experience with Expandability.
